14.12.2012 SAW presents the new Reader Platform 2gage at the 6th. RFID Symposium This year the sixth RFID Symposium took place in Dresden under the patronage of the Silicon Saxony e.V. Like every year many Producers and Customers of RFID solutions presented their newest projects and studies. As in the years bevore SAW COMPONENTS Dresden took part with its own contribution and presented its new reader platform 2gage. The presentation team showed live experiments from the areas of wireless identification of hot and fast objects, temperature measurement and strain measurement. The new SAW Reader 2gage was developed by SAW COMPONENTS Dresden and represents a new generation of SAW readers. Usable as well as mobile or fixed device with resistive touch display and a user friendly interface it is suitable for a lot of applications. The multifunction reader enables the user wireless identification of SAW IDENT tags as well as SAW sense measurement of temperatures up to 350°C and strains. More information to the SAW 2gage will be available at this page soon.

29th of March 2012 Locating Animals by SAW Technology Development results of Agro-SAW-IDENT project have shown the significant capability of SAW technology for locating individual animals especially in large livestock. There is a large savings potential which can be realised by introducing of that technology in engineered agriculture. Therefore, the saxon state office for Environment, Agriculture and Geoloy, company Schneider Elektronik GmbH & Co. KG and SAW COMPONENTS Dresden GmbH decided to continue their successful cooperation following the positive results of Agro-SAW-IDENT. The Kick-off-meeting for the new project will take place on 2012-04-24. The project is sponsored by German Federal Agency for Agriculture and Nutrition.

24th of February 2012 Agro-SAW-IDENT Together with the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology and further industrial partners we researched and developed an electronic animal identification based on SAW-technology. The ASI project started in 2007 and should increase security of identification using the advantages of SAW technology. Now the project has been completed successfully and the basics are available for electronic animal identification with stationary and mobile reading technology in the frequency range 2.4 GHz. The project were sponsored by German Federal Agency for Agriculture and Nutrition.

Cool SAW On October 15th, 2009, Federal Ministry of Education and Research announced the partners Fraunhofer ENAS and SAW COMPONENTS Dresden GmbH to receive funding by the Cool Silicon project. We research and develop a new SAW packaging technology in co-operation with scientists of Fraunhofer Research Institution for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS. A special cap wafer shall hermetically seal the functional elements and guarantee a long lifetime and high reliability. The cap wafer has integrated vertical through connections and helps to eliminate parasitics. Characterization of electrical parameters and quality control of the new technology will be developed within the project also.
